Meet the Team

  • Louise Kavanaugh

    PROGRAM DIRECTOR

    Louise (Ms. Lou) is also the Camp Coordinator and a member of the Leadership Team at Bowers School Farm and Johnson Nature Center. She holds a degree from Central Michigan University and has over 20 years of experience in early childhood development, bringing a strong background in working with young children in a variety of educational settings.


  • Leigh Rowe

    EARLY CHILDHOOD LEADER

    Leigh is our Early Childhood Leader at Johnson Nature Center and Bowers School Farm. She attended Central Michigan University where she studied Early Childhood Development & Learning with a concentration in Outdoor & Environmental Education. Leigh’s passion is sharing her love for the outdoors with children.

  • Megan Thompson

    INSTRUCTIONAL GUIDE

    Megan has a Bachelor of Science in Biology from State University of New York (SUNY), College at Brockport and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Oakland University. She has a deep love for the natural world and believes nature provides the perfect classroom for children to develop their curiosity and nurture their sense of wonder.

  • Katie Szczepanski

    TreeSchool Associate Teacher

    Katie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from Oakland University. During her internship at Stage Nature Center, she assisted with environmental programming, guided trail walks, helped develop children’s programs, participated in trail maintenance and invasive species removal, and supported animal care. She is enthusiastic about working with children and creating engaging learning experiences.


  • Skylar Scribner

    TreeSchool Associate Teacher

    Skylar holds an associate’s degree from Oakland University in Elementary Education with a minor in Science. She has several years of experience in early childhood education and brings a genuine love for the outdoors and learning alongside young children.
